CONYERS - The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the vandalism and theft at the Walk of Heroes Veterans Memorial at Black Shoals Park. Sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, two of the five statutes of soldiers at the entrance to the Walk of Heroes, along with the globe, and the plaque at the base, were found missing. Also taken were the bronze plaque logos of the Army and the Marines at the stage, and other sites were also damaged or destroyed.
Black Shoals Park is closed Monday as Sheriff’s detectives continue their investigation.
