ROCKDALE COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT TO SPEAK AT THE CONYERS GARDEN CLUB 2019 NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK CELEBRATION
The Conyers Garden Club in partnership with the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library will welcome Rockdale County Cooperative Extension Agent James T. Murphy to speak at the 2019 National Garden Week Program on June 4, 2019. Mr. Murphy will talk about “Bugs in your Backyard.” Mr. Murphy was born and raised in South Carolina, and received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Clemson University. He went on to earn a Master of Science Degree from UGA in Entomology. He has worked in lab and field settings for several years, and is passionate about insects, wildlife, and natural resources. In his free time he enjoys riding his bike, fishing, and tending his herb garden. He currently serves as the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent for UGA Cooperative Extension in Rockdale County.
In addition to Mr. Murphy’s talk, children who attend the program will participate in activities which may include coloring and/or word searches and other hands-on activities. The library staff will offer summer program reward tickets/tokens to children who attend the program. Brown bag refreshments will also be provided for the children participating.
