Wayne and Rebecca Hensley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 15 at First Baptist Church of Lithonia. The Hensleys were married on June 15, 1963, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Marietta.

The couple has two sons: David Hensley, and wife Laurah, of Covington and Markham Hensley, and wife, Ingrid.

They have three grandsons, Ryan, Garrett and Joshua.

Both Wayne and Rebecca are retired from Bell System; Wayne retired after 38 years and Rebecca retired after 31 years.

The couple celebrated their anniversary in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist of Lithonia, surrounded by family, co-workers, high school friends, former neighbors, church members, Rockdale County’s Citizen Sheriff Academy Alumni Association members, knife club members and many friends.

The flowers were designed by Willis Street of Loganville, a friend for 40 years. The photographer and a friend was Roger Cannon of Conyers who has taken pictures of the Hensley family over many years. The cakes were baked by Diane Lovell of Cakes & Catering by Originals in Jonesboro.

The food was catered by Rita Wasson of Conyers, a good friend, former co-worker and sanctuary choir buddy, with assistance from her husband, Wyndal. The greeter was Hopey Reece of Carnesville. The servers were: Lisa Reece Cisson of Carnesville; Connie Garrison of Conyers; Marie Nix of Louisville, Tenn.; and Lois Anderson, Rosemary Armstrong, Nola Costin, Linda McCullough, all of Lithonia.

Rebecca has five brothers, and their spouses, who have or will be celebrating wedding milestone anniversaries this year, all celebrating more than 50 years of marriage. They are as follows: Huey Hamby Reece and wife Inez Folsom of Woodstock will celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary on Aug. 29; William Marion Roberts and wife Miriam Tarter of Byhalia, Miss., celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 30; Robert Olin Reece and wife Barbara Foster of Lithia Springs will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on Nov. 22; Buren Edwin Roberts and wife Ernestine Rusk of Bowersville will celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary on Aug. 6; and Emmett Earl Reece and wife Hopey Rogers of Carnesville will celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary on Dec. 14.
