CONYERS - The Conyers Garden Club welcomed noted hydrangea expert and researcher, Dr. Sandy Reed, to their February meeting.

Reed holds a B.S. degree in Agronomy and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics. Before retiring she served as a Research Geneticist for the U.S. National Arboretum and developed several new cultivars of hydrangeas.

Reed shared her knowledge of hydrangeas and discussed her work in the development of new cultivars. Her presentation gave club members and visitors a different insight into the history of one of the South’s favorite shrubs along with helpful tips on their care and maintenance.

Following Reed’s presentation, the club fellowshipped with visitors and enjoyed refreshments. Their regular business meeting followed. The Conyers Garden Club thanks Dr. Reed for an outstanding presentation and also thanks visitors for attending.
