The studio, located at 6185 Turner Lake Road NW, Covington, just inside the doors to the recreation complex, features state-of-the-art equipment, along with a great view of Turner Lake. Newton County commissioners and Recreation Commission board members celebrated a ribbon-cutting of the new facility Thursday evening.

The annual cost to use the facility is as follows: adults — $75 a year; county employee — $24 a year; seniors — $25 a year; non-resident — $150 a year. Daily fees are $5 per day for adults; $3 a day for county employees; $7 a day for non-residents; and $3 a day for seniors.

The B.C. Crowell Cardio Fitness Studio features brand-new treadmills, elliptical machines, weight machines and dumbbells.

“I want to thank the Rec Commission for allowing the citizens of Newton County to have this cardio fitness studio,” said Ternard Turner, Newton County Recreation Commission cirector. “Come down to Turner Lake and enjoy the training fields, state-of-the-art (cardio) equipment; you can listen to music, you can watch YouTube, you can walk the trails and you can play basketball. These are things we are going to provide the citizens of Newton County. We also have yoga and Zumba.”
