This is a rendering of the new Conyers City Hall, which should begin construction next month.

CONYERS — Conyers Mayor Vince Evans and City Council members will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the new City Hall at 901 O’Kelly St. on Thursday, July 18, at 10 a.m.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will include a brief program and ceremonial groundbreaking. Representatives from construction firm Reeves Young and Precision Planning Inc., the firm providing architectural and design services, will also be on hand.

Those attending should park in the rear parking lot of Nancy Guinn Memorial Library at 864 Green St. or the Travis Street parking lot at 900 Green Street and walk to the groundbreaking site. Golf carts will be available to shuttle guests.

City voters approved a $13 million bond referendum for the new city hall last year. Construction is expected to begin in August and could be completed in the early fall of 2020.
