COVINGTON — Over 200 community members, co-workers and other special friends and family of late Almond Turner gathered on the Covington Square Friday night in his honor.
Turner arrived back home Friday afternoon, Nov. 29, after traveling over 300 miles from Meridan, Mississippi, where he passed away last weekend.
Covington Police Department Captain Ken Malcolm, Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown, Newton County School Board Chairwoman Shakila Henderson-Baker, Springfield Baptist Church Executive Pastor Arthur Lee, Turner's son Dwahn as well as his brother, borther-in-law, cousin and other community members spoke of Turner's past-times and personal attributes.
Turner will be laid to rest to on December 2 at 11 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church. Visitation times have not been set.
