CONYERS - The Conyers-born and bred roofing company Raymond Engineering is celebrating a quarter of a century of successful business.
Ray Ramos and his wife Margaret, equipped with a typewriter and a telephone, cleared a small space in their bedroom and went to work in 1992. Now Raymond Engineering has 45 employees with offices not only on Royal Drive in Conyers, but in Savannah, Raleigh, N.C., Greer, S.C. and will soon open a new office in the Miami, Fla., area.
“We’re a roofing and waterproofing engineering firm,” said Jessica Tabb, marketing coordinator for the company. “We’ve done work for the local school system and other commercial work. We have roofing consultants and are also breaking into structural engineering, architecture and civil engineering work. We’ve grown tremendously over the last couple of years.”
Ramos and his family have been active in the community while growing their business. He is a former member of the Rockdale County Board of Education and recently was the recipient of the prestigious Walter Zeller Award from the Kiwanis Club of Conyers.
The company has received numerous accolades and honors and in 2016 was selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration to attend the six-month Emerging Leaders training initiative in Atlanta.
