Mr. Stewart Gregory Capers Jr. of Augusta and Mrs. Amelia Hamrick Johnson of North Augusta, S.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Carthryn Capers of Atlanta, to Brian Joseph Grooms of Atlanta, son of Jeff and Lynne Grooms of Conyers.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Gregory Capers Sr. of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Everett Hamrick of Barnwell, S.C. and Ms. Cathryn Wilson Hamrick of North Augusta. She is a 2002 graduate of North Augusta High School. She is a 2006 graduate of Georgia College and State University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in mass communications. She is currently employed with Alliant Insurance Services Inc. as a lead benefits analyst in Alpharetta.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Mr. Joseph Waymon Grooms Jr. of Alma, Mrs. Lorraine Pearson Grooms of Conyers, the late Mr. Oscar Leon Davis of Griffin and Mrs. Jacquelyn Bishop Davis of Griffin. He is a 2003 graduate of Salem High School. He is a 2007 graduate of Georgia College and State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in mass communications. He is currently employed with Chick-Fil-A at Terminus, as a marketing and sales director in Atlanta and he is the owner of Groomsman Entertainment.
The couple plans to wed Dec. 14 at the Old Historical Courthouse on the Square in Decatur.
