CONYERS — A quick-thinking woman foiled an attempt to steal her car at a gas station when she turned the gas hose on the would-be thief.

The incident occurred about 8:32 p.m. Tuesday at the Abbott Ridge BP Station at 1965 Sigman Road NW, according to a news release from the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.

While the female driver of a white Dodge Challenger was pumping gas, a male suspect allegedly attempted to get in the driver’s seat and steal the car. But according to news reports, the victim turned the gas hose on the suspect and he fled from the scene, getting into a silver 2005-2010 Chrysler 300 with at least two other people inside.

Surveillance video shows the suspect sneaking up on the Challenger, and also photos of the suspect and the getaway vehicle.
