COVINGTON — Get ready to run in the 20th annual Cheerios Challenge sponsored by the Covington Family YMCA. The event will be held Saturday Nov. 6, beginning at the Y on Newton Drive.

The Cheerios Challenge features a 10K race starting at 7:15 a.m., a 5K starting at 8:45 a.m., a 1-mile fun run at 9:30 a.m., and a Trix Tot Trot for those 5 and under at 9:45 a.m.

Participants can register online at www.ycheerioschallenge.com.

T-shirts and race bibs can be picked up at the Covington Family YMCA, 2140 Newton Drive, on Friday, Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m., and race day beginning at 6:15 a.m.

Standard age group awards, including Master, Grand Master & Senior Master, will be given for the 10K and 5K at the end of the 5k. Race awards can be picked up after results are finalized.

A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the male and female who break the course records in the 10K and 5K events. Current course records are: 5K — Male, 14:48, and Female, 17:15; 10K — Male, 31:16, and Female — 36:20.

Route maps are available at the Y or online.

A post-race festival will be held at the Legion Field Fairgrounds, directly behind the Y, at 3173 Mill St.

Proceeds from the event help support the YMCA Financial Assistance Program, which provides access to Y programs for individuals and families who otherwise could not afford to participate.
