CONYERS - The Conyers Garden Club joined clubs from across the country in celebration of National Garden Week, held June 2-7. The club held its celebration on June 4 and coordinated efforts with the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library staff to make it an event that was a part of the summer library activities for children.

The 2019 Conyer’s Garden Club celebration included a proclamation issued to the club by Conyers Mayor Vince Evans acknowledging the club’s many contributions to the community. This was followed by an informative and entertaining presentation called “Bugs in your Backyard” by Rockdale Extension Agent James Murphy. Both the children and adults who attended asked meaningful questions that led to a rich discussion about beneficial insects, pollinators, and pests.

Following Mr. Murphy’s presentation, the children made models of a variety of insects using fresh fruits and vegetables which they could enjoy eating or take home for show and tell. The afternoon proved to be both fun and educational for all who attended.
