CONYERS — The Conyers Police Department and Crime Stoppers Atlanta are seeking the public’s help in locating Calvin Smith, 20, who is currently wanted in connection with an armed robbery at the Briar Creek Apartments on May 24.
Smith is one of three people allegedly involved in the robbery. The other two include a juvenile female who has been arrested and a second male suspect yet to be identified.
According to a report from Conyers Police, the victim, a visitor from Texas, had met the female suspect while at a local store. He stated she approached him outside and offered to have sex with him for $100. He agreed and suggested they go to a local motel, but said the female told him they could go to her parents’ apartment at the Briar Creek Apartments.
When they got to the apartment, she told him to go to the back bedroom and take off his clothes. He did so and waited for her, but said two young black males entered the room with one pointing a small handgun at him. They took the money he had and his car keys, told him not to follow them and left.
The victim said he went to his vehicle, where he found the female rummaging through his belongings. When he yelled at her, she threw the keys at him and fled the scene. He grabbed a towel from his vehicle to cover himself, then drove to the entrance of the apartment complex and flagged down a passing officer.
The victim was questioned by investigators, who were also able to view surveillance video from the store and identify the female juvenile. Officers canvassed the area around the apartment complex and located her, taking her into custody.
A juvenile complaint form was obtained for armed robbery and the female was transported to the Gainesville Youth Detention Center.
From descriptions provided by the victim, investigators were able to identify Smith as one of the two male suspects. They are working to determine the identity of the second suspect.
Any information leading to the arrest of Calvin Smith may result in a cash reward of up to $2,000.
