COVINGTON — The Covington Police Department officer who was shot and wounded Tuesday night after responding to a domestic dispute is “awake, alert and in good spirits,” according to a release from the CPD.
Officer Rashad Rivers, who was sworn in as an officer in January, was shot while responding to an incident at Oyo Hotel on Alcovy Road at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was scheduled to undergo surgery at Grady Hospital in Atlanta Thursday to repair the damage to his jaw caused by the gunshot.
