“Reading through the Legal Notices section, it’s no wonder why so many people are losing their homes. Where did all of these shady finance/mortgage brokers come from? Good lord! Next time, go for a company you’ve heard of.”

“I drove out to Gaither Plantation. It’s a ghost town. Appears to be sitting empty; kinda spooky. Deserted with an old tire swing on a limb. Where’s the caretaker? Met with a person walking their dog (who) said it’s been sitting empty for months.”

“If we’re having to dip into reserves for the Rockdale budget, then we cannot afford raises. We cannot afford fancy new cars for county employees. We cannot afford new tablets and laptops. We cannot afford ‘economic trips’ or fancy planning session locales. If we’re dipping into reserves, we cannot afford the lifestyle the BOC wants to live. Cut all the extras, forget about raises, no travel this year, no new tech, and eliminate or shut down anything unnecessary, like the chief of staff position and Channel 23. The BOC has been living the champagne lifestyle, but it needs to be bread and water from here on out until they actually demonstrate an ability to grow and improve conditions in this county.”

“Do we have Syrians being relocated in our county? Or refugees of any kind? This should be public knowledge, but I feel that our government and Obama do not want average Americans to know what’s going on with ‘resettlement’ of refugees or illegals that are flooding into this country.”

“How many years ago did we citizens sound the first alarms that there was gang activity in Rockdale? And we were defined by leadership in this county as ‘racists’ and crazies. Instead of taking proactive steps to prevent gangs from getting a foothold in Rockdale, the chairman of the BOC chose to hold ‘unity’ rallies, to put us ‘alarmist racists’ in our place. Well, gee, guess what happened. Rockdale is overrun with gang activity. Turns out we, and not the leadership of the county, were absolutely right. Maybe the leadership needs to think realistically instead of racially from this point out, especially now that the whites are moving out in droves and the targets of gang crime are more and more likely to be black. Maybe now it will matter to him and his coterie.”

“I hope the RCPS budget schedule includes cutting the budget down to where we’re only assessed 20 mills like every other county in Georgia.”

“So Obama thinks going to a climate change summit is a ‘rebuke’ to terrorists? Oh yeah, nothing scares a jihadist more than solar panels and LEED certifications. Honestly people, who is still dumb enough to admit they voted for this joker in the White House? I’m happy to say I did not, but unfortunately I have to live with the consequences of others’ mistaken faith in this blowhard.”

——-

“Why do Rockdale people have to emissions (tests) and not Newton? Them Newton people are up here all the time, spewing their carbons all over our county. Some of the worst, smelliest, smokiest rust buckets I’ve ever seen had Newton tags.”

——-

“Isn’t there some kind of code enforcement thing that says losing candidates need to pull up their signs? One who’s no longer in the running has signs all around Milstead and Sigman Road and it’s an eyesore.”

——-

“If I were a student stuck in an RCPS school, I’d drink in class, too.”

——-

“Whenever I see someone still driving around with an Obama sticker on their car, I don’t know whether to pity their ignorance or pray they are institutionalized before they can vote again. Mostly, I do the praying.”

“I notice two things in the recent paper. 1) Easing of development standards along Salem Road and the building of new apartments in the Tucker Mill area, grouped along with the garbage at the county line with DeKalb County. Don’t we have enough trash already. The Pine Log area is a mess now and you want to bring in more. 2) I think we need to remove some politicians and get Rockdale straightened out. The last few years have been going downhill.”

“This is an FYI to police, shoppers and the owners of the Home Depot shopping center (in Conyers). In the past month, I’ve been hit up for money by three different panhandlers in the parking lot. Two did not speak English and handed me notes. Twice this happened around lunchtime on Saturday, and once during the week around dusk. It’s not like I go there a lot, just a few times in the last few weeks for a project, so three times in one month tells me there’s a real problem over there.”

“Rockdale is being overbuilt. It was already overbuilt and here we are building more. Who’s going to be buying all these homes? We’re already told that our area has high unemployment, low-paying jobs, bad traffic, an aging and declining infrastructure, high crime. Our schools are full of low-income children who have to have free lunch and free summer lunch and free backpacks and school supplies. We hear constantly that people don’t have cars and need public transportation. Ga. Highway 138 is awful, and West Avenue is going to be just as bad before long. We have empty storefronts all over this county and empty houses, and far too many apartments and extended stay motels. I feel like this is some kind of under the table deal on this ‘development,’ and it is not going to benefit the county any more than the horse park did or Stonecrest. Just another boodoggle.”

“The Conyers historical district is more like the Conyers hysterical district with those ridiculous columns and balconies still up in Olde Town. Are they ever coming down?”
