Volunteers Needed

Keep Covington/Newton County Beautiful needs volunteers to help clean up roadside litter during The Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 23. Volunteers should meet a LongHorn Steakhouse in Covington at 9 a.m. to pick up free T-shirts, breakfast and supplies. Visit or call 770-784-2015 for registration and details. St. Patrick’s Parade

World’s Fastest Growing St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place in Olde Town Conyers, 4:30 p.m. This is a two-block walking parade and everyone is encouraged to meet at the corner of Main and Center streets prior to 4:30 p.m. to join in this annual tradition. Following the parade, visit the Olde Town Pavilion for contest winners, cookies, green punch, and Celtic Dancers. For more information, visit 770-206-2606

‘All Over This Land’

“All Over This Land,” a play by Wade Marbaugh, will be presented March 15-17 by Being Human Players at the Black Box Theater. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 at the door; $10 for students and seniors. Annual BBQ

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold its annual BBQ and Bake Sale at 2533 Stanton Road S.E., Conyers. Meals may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the front parking lot. Meals include a generous serving of chopped pork, BBQ sauce, Brunswick stew, cole slaw, chips, a pickle and bread for $9.

Church Anniversary

Saint Paul AME Church, 13108 Brown Bridge Road, Covington, will celebrate its 141st Church Anniversary at 3 p.m. The community is invited to join the church for this celebration. The guest speaker is Rev. Nathaniel Veal, senior pastor of Saint Paul AME Worship Center, Lithonia. The theme is “Growing Stronger, Growing Deeper, Reaching Higher.”

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

North Rockdale Baptist Church (NRBC) will host a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day brunch and worship service on Sunday, Mar. 17. Special guest will be Rev. Butch Davis, a retired captain with the DeKalb County Police Department. The brunch will be served from 9:45-10:45 a.m, and the worship service will follow at 11 a.m. John Bloodworth is pastor at North Rockdale Baptist Church, which is located at 3130 Hwy. 138 N.E. in Conyers.

XYZ to Meet

XYZ (xtra years of zest) for persons 50 and above will meet at the First Baptist Church gym, Ga. Highway 138, Conyers, at 10:30 am. Entertainment will be The Snapping Shoals Quartet, a gospel singing group. Everyone is urged to attend. Chef Hugh Banks will be preparing a delicious meal of bacon wrapped honey mustard pork loin, parsley buttered potatoes, baby carrots and peas, assorted breads, tossed salad, tea, coffee and dessert at $8 per person. Lions Pancake Supper

The Oxford Lions wil host their annual pancake supper from 5-8 p.m. at Flint Hill Elementary School. All you can eat plain or blueberry pancakes, Holifield sausage, and drinks will be available. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Funds raised will be used for Flint Hill Elementary School and Lions Sight Services.

DAR meeting

The DAR Conyers Chapter will meet a 3:30 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1275 Flat Shoals Road SE, Conyers. Rockdale Parks and Recreation Director Sue Sanders will be the speaker.
