CONYERS - Film making returned to Olde Town Conyers this week with shooting being done for the new DC Entertainment series, “Doom Patrol.”

Production crews set up cables, power boxes and other lighting equipment on Monday and Tuesday, and film crews were in action all day Thursday, starting at The Pointe Bar on Railroad St. that morning, and moving further up Railroad St. that afternoon. Friday, everything was cleaned up.

Doom Patrol is a live action production based on the 1963 comic superhero team of Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief), Robotman (Cliff Steele), Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Crazy Jane, with the addition of Cyclops. Doom Patrol has been compared to Marvel’s “X-Men.”

According to the www.imdb.com website, “The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities - but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence - and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them… Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

“In 2018, the Doom Patrol will appear in the fifth episode of the live action Titans, the inaugural television web series on the DC Universe streaming service. Following the team’s 2018 appearance in Titans, it will return with its own Doom Patrol series on the same DC Universe streaming service in 2019.

“As of August 2018, it has been confirmed that the group will include at least Robotman (voiced by Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (played by Dwain Murphy), Elasti-Woman (played by April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (played by Diane Guerrero), leader Dr. Niles Caulder (played by Kelsey Grammer), and that they will be organized at the behest of Cyborg (Joivan Wade).

“Doom Patrol” is being produced by Berlanti Productions (known for “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” and “Black Lightning”), and will be featured on Warner Bros.’ new superhero exclusive streaming service, DC Universe (www.dcuniverse.com). Premiere dates for the show and the service have yet to released.
