COVINGTON — The man accused of killing his girlfriend and leaving her body beside the Yellow River was found guilty Thursday on all counts against him.

A jury found James Gary Hill III guilty of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in the strangulation death of Kelly Marshall. Superior Court Judge Horace Johnson sentenced Hill to life in prison.

Marshall’s body was found under a bridge that spans the Yellow River just off Mt. Tabor Road on the morning of Aug. 12, 2017, in an area that was used as an access point for kayakers and was known to be a hangout spot for Hill. Marshall had been strangled to death and beaten.
