Anthony McClure

Army Pvt. Anthony R. McClure has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

McClure is the son of Natalie Gonzalez of Bakersfield, Calif., and brother of Sean Mendez of Covington.

He is a 2013 graduate of Alcovy High School.

Jacob Caldwell

Air Force Airman Jacob S. Caldwell graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Caldwell is the son of Melissa and Tim Kent of Conyers. He is the grandson of Catherine and Jerry Caldwell of Conyers.

The airman graduated in 2013 from Paragon Academy in Covington.

Sha’yvonta Banner

Air Force Airman 1st Class Sha’yvonta D. Banner graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Banner is the daughter of John W. Banner of Millen, Ga., and Gerzel D. Hankerson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister of Kadena Banner of Daytona Beach, Fla.; granddaughter of Jerzell Quince and Betty J. Hankerson, also of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and niece of Sonya D. Hankerson of Covington.

She is a 2009 graduate of Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She is a 2013 graduate of Florida State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree.

Demarcus Sykes

He is a 2012 graduate of Salem High School.

Kianna Dhanraj

Air Force Airman Kianna S. Dhanraj graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. Dhanraj is the daughter of Camisha L. Dhanraj of Lithonia. She is the granddaughter of Carol T. Castleberry of Decatur. She is the niece of Sherika S. Castleberry of Riverdale; Sonya K. Daniels of Covington; and Shawn S. Castleberry of Lithonia. She is the cousin of Timeka K. Goodwin of Conyers.

The airman graduated in 2012 from Youth Challenge Academy in Augusta.

Larissa Arthur
