MILITARY NEWS: Travis Wallace and Brett Sandlan graduate from basic military training

Travis Wallace

Army Pvt. Travis V. Wallace has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Benning.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values.

Wallace is the son of Kimberly Shaffer of Covington.

He is a 2009 graduate of Alcovy High School.

Brett Sandlan

Air Force Airman Brett M. Sandlan graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Sandlan is the son of Teresa Grist of Covington and Brian Sandlan of Cleveland, Tenn. He is the grandson of Dennis Wyatt, Suzanne Wyatt, and Charlen Wyatt of Cleveland. He is also the nephew of Michael Wyatt, Charlen Wyatt and Stephen Wyatt of Cleveland.
