Back-to-school supplies to be distributed at upcoming events in Conyers

CONYERS — Rockdale County students will head back to school on Monday, July 29.

Open houses are scheduled the prior week at each grade level as listed below:

Friday, July 19:

Early Learning Center at RCA — 9 to 11 a.m.

Monday, July 22:

9th Grade — 5 to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, July 23:

Rockdale Career Academy — 4 to 7 p.m.

10th-12th Grade and Open Campus and Alpha Academy — 5 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday, July 24:

Middle Schools — 4:30 to 7 p.m. Check your school website for grade-specific times.

Thursday, July 25:

Elementary Schools — 5-7 p.m.

All students new to Rockdale County or returning students with new addresses need to register at the RCPS Registration Office at 1143 West Avenue, Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. If registering after July 22, Registration will be moved to the Rockdale Career Academy (back of building), 1064 Culpepper Drive to accommodate for increased volume.

School hours for 2019-20 school year will operate as below:

Elementary schools, 7:35 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.

Middle schools, 8:45 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.

High schools, 8:05 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

County-wide school supplies drives will be happening throughout the remainder of the summer.

The Salem Christian Church Back to School Bash, in partnership with Rockdale County government, will be held on Saturday, July 13 starting at 11 a.m. There will be ample amount of school supply, a bookbag giveaway and refreshments. The SBC Back to School celebration will be Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. noon, at Springfield Baptist Church, Worship Center, 1877 Iris Drive SE, Conyers. The event will include school supply giveaway, an educational resource fair, program and fun games for the entire family.
