CONYERS — In keeping with Sheriff Eric J. Levett’s vision of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office serving as guardians of the community and to build a safe and strong community partnership with its citizens, the RCSO will host its first women’s self-defense class for women ages 13 and up from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18.

The class will be held in the Sheriff’s Office Training Room and Multi-Media Room on the second floor of the Jail Administration Building at 911 Chambers Drive NW in Conyers.

The class will be led by Lt. Jake Coggins, RCSO Training Officer, and Niki Weathersby, RCSO Defensive Tactics instructor.

During the women’s self-defense class, participants will learn how to prevent attacks through different levels of awareness skills, how to understand the mental conditions of varies offenders, how to develop a combat mindset and build the confidence needed to protect themselves, how to use their environment as a defense, and how to target the major areas of the body. Loose workout clothing is preferred and no prior experience is necessary.
