“I have been saying for quite some time now that I cannot believe the litter that is all over Rockdale County. I have been in a lot of other counties and it is very noticeable how clean their communities are compared to Rockdale. I don’t know if it is a county responsibility or not to pick up litter off the side of the roads and to keep the grass cut down, but I don’t ever see the county or anyone doing that. There are lots and lots of areas that seem to never get cut much less litter picked up. Please folks, don’t make the side of the road your trash can, put your litter in a proper disposal container and let’s clean up this county. There are a lot of new people coming to our area, we don’t want them to think we don’t care where we live.”

“I am disgusted that some people care so little about the beautiful environment and community they moved to here in Rockdale County. Makes me think folks have forgotten to teach their children to ‘Give a hoot, don’t pollute!’”

“Destroys our community … I agree with (a Facebook poster) … can the inmates (under close supervision) clean the community?”

“There are places where it seems there is no one cleaning up …. one place is down Flat Shoals Road from the red light at Kroger, all the way down toward Flat Shoals Elementary School. What happened and whose responsibility is it to clean up? Not only is there a lot of trash but no one is keeping the grass cut in the median. This used to be a really nice street and they kept it up a lot better than they do now …. Just a pet peeve …”

“I understand this is no longer an open forum. As to this week’s subject of trash — hard to know where to begin. Up and down Highway 138, Georgia 20 and Flat Shoals Road. My, my, must have been a dozen semi loads of trash. There were bottles, cans, paper, you name it. Flat Shoals Road is a weedy mess. We used to see prisoner work details. When we visited Egypt it was cleaner and tidier than Rockdale County. It is embarrassing.”
