“I live in Hank Johnson’s district. I have an issue of importance, and I’m going to announce it here, because I know his handlers will not let it be discussed at any of his appearances. I want thugs off the streets. My house was broken into and I was robbed. What’s he going to do about crime in this district? Maybe he needs to worry about the rights of law-abiding citizens and less about punks who get themselves into trouble with police by breaking the law. I don’t care about Michael Brown, I don’t care about the one in Baltimore; both of them were known criminals. What I care about is this district where people are getting hurt while Johnson and his ilk make excuses for criminals. Crime, Johnson, that should be your No. 1 issue, because your district is full of criminals.”

“Why are we having a ‘Phish Phry’ in Olde Town? Why not a ‘Fish Fry’? We need to be teaching the young proper English and spelling, not joining in idiocy.”

“Like someone else said, Senoia and other places block off street traffic during filming and shut down certain areas of business. So how are those businesses making it but not ours? What is Senoia doing that we’re not doing? And what can be done to make things better and encourage Olde Town business? This is something Conyers really needs to focus on. And I agree about the parking deck. It is inconceivable that we ask so many people to show up for jury duty with the inadequate parking. Shame on Conyers. That government housing across the street would be a great place for a parking deck, it’s next to the library, across from the Depot and a very convenient walk to the courthouse and Olde Town business. And take out that ugly mini strip mall with the cracked concrete lot and put more parking there, right across from the pavilion. If we had ample parking, we could think bigger on downtown festivals!”

“Let’s address the elephant in the room that everyone is afraid to talk about. Cakes from a bakery are a sham. Everyone knows you can get a better-tasting cake from the boxes of mix on the baking aisle. It’s the truth. Also, if I want a piece of cake, Michelle Obama can’t do anything about it.”

“Baltimore so-called speakers are only adding to the violence and hatred and not making much sense. How can burning down your own town, injuring people help towards change. That’s just as smart as blowing up clinics that perform abortions in the name of saving lives.”

“If you want to keep solicitors away, I found that besides the no trespassing signs, hanging up shooting targets around the property with the bull’s eye all shot to shreds helps a lot.”

“You cannot solve anything where there is no work ethic. It doesn’t matter what the makeup of the police or political class is, if there is no work ethic, no amount of government assistance or training programs or schooling or anything else are going to solve the problem. Where there have been riots, there is poverty, there is lack of education, there is a lack of family unit, but there is also a long-standing cultural intolerance of wanting to work and getting an education. If people do not want to work, or will not follow orders given to them by teachers or trainers or employers, then the problem, be it poverty or unemployment, is never, ever going to get better. If community leaders truly cared, they would be addressing that problem. This whole ‘fight the power’ and ‘stick it to the Man’ talk does not improve anything.”

‘Regardless of what ‘animal experts’ will tell you around here, fences do not keep coyotes out. Never leave your pets outside in a fenced area, especially morning and evening or overnight, especially if they are smaller animals. Coyotes can and do climb over fences easily. There’s not a fence made that is 100 percent coyote proof. The only way to protect yourself and your loved ones from a coyote is to shoot it dead.”

“Congratulations to Grady Jarrett and Neville Hewitt on being drafted to the NFL this year. Both are Rockdale Bulldogs! Nice work, guys. Stay strong and put some Rockdale in it!”

“Stop probation for miscellaneous crimes. The court systems have been imposing probation for miscellaneous crimes and traffic tickets if you are unable to pay the fines in cash at the time of sentencing. This is a way to keep the poor in trouble with the law and a secondary punishment for being poor. It is hard enough when you don’t have a good-paying job to pay the fine let alone the additional fees for probation services. This is also being done for people behind on child support. This does not help feed the children when the parent is put in jail and loses his job.”

“After the gunshot at CMS this week, I have this to say: here are the steps that calm, rational parents take in a situation like this. 1. Ensure child’s safety. 2. Calmly assess the school’s response and information from the investigation as it unfolds. 3. Address any issues with the proper authorities and take action after all the facts have been confirmed. … Running your mouth to cameras in an emotional situation makes you look irrational.”

“I am more than tired of reading the same person’s diatribe about the Newton County campus of GPC every single week. I know students who are successful there. Here are some tips: Take responsibility for your own future and education and don’t depend on your parents to do it for you. If you can’t get help by phone, get off the couch and go in person. Politely ask someone face to face, with adult manners and eye contact, for the assistance you require. If employees are busy, wait your turn or ask to make an appointment. If someone is rude to you, smile and get over it. Don’t expect a Ritz Carlton experience at a public two-year college in Georgia. Take advantage of the fact that it is affordable and local. And be thankful that the credit hours you earn are worth the same on paper as the ones your friends are going into deep debt for at their out-of-state schools. Try on some grown up pants and get on with your life.”

“Just saw the story about all the Baltimore riots. That’s cool and everything, but when is Donna Marie’s pizza opening back up? That is news I would like to hear actually thinking about it.”
