CONYERS — The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2019 millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 7.14%.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 20.19 mills, an increase of 1.345 mills.

The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $33.63 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $161.40.

According to Georgia law, three public hearings are required prior to implementing the tax increase. They are:

♦ Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. in the Assembly Hall located at 901 Main St., Conyers, Georgia 30012 (Regular BOC meeting to follow);

♦ Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Hall located at 901 Main St., Conyers, GA 30012; and

♦ Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m.in the Assembly Hall located at 901 Main St., Conyers, GA 30012.

The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners will hold a called meeting to set the millage rate at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 in the Assembly Hall, with a work session to follow.
