CONYERS — The second semester for students in the Newton County School System and Rockdale County Public Schools has started, and the two school systems have already set the dates for graduation ceremonies in late May.

The last day for students in Newton County is scheduled for Thursday, May 24. Commencement ceremonies for the system’s graduating seniors will be held that weekend.

All three commencement ceremonies for Newton schools will be held at Springfield Baptist Church, located at 1873 Iris Drive SE in Conyers.

Eastside High’s graduation ceremony will be Friday, May 25 at 7 p.m.

On May 26, the next day, Newton High will have its graduation ceremony at 9 a.m. while Alcovy High will hold its ceremony at 3 p.m.

During the last week of school, the three high schools in Newton County will hold graduation rehearsals.

Eastside High School will hold its rehearsal Monday, May 21, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Newton High’s rehearsal will be Tuesday, May 22, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Alcovy High’s rehearsal will be Thursday, May 24, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

All rehearsals will take place at Springfield Baptist Church.

According to Sherri Davis, Newton County Schools’ director of public relations, seniors will receive more information from their schools regarding graduation practice and commencement ceremony guidelines.

The last day for students in Rockdale County is scheduled for Friday, May 25. Commencement ceremonies for the system’s graduating seniors will be held that week.

The commencement ceremonies for Rockdale County schools will be held at the individual schools.

Salem High School’s graduation ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at the school, located at 3551 Underwood Road in Conyers.

Rockdale County High School’s graduation ceremony will be held Thursday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the school, located at 1174 Bulldog Circle in Conyers.

The graduation ceremony for Heritage High School, located at 2400 Granade Road in Conyers, will be held Friday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m.
