Iris Gardner
Iris Gail Lindsey Gardner was born on November 30, 1942 in Columbus, Ga. and passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 5, 2019, in Watkinsville, Ga. She is survived by her husband Gary Gardner, daughter, Dr. Kimberly Knicely and granddaughter, Rachel Quinlan, as well as nieces and nephews and her many dear friends.
Iris Gail spent her childhood throughout the United States and Europe, as the daughter of a career military family. Her life was a full one. She had an adventurous and independent spirit and zest for life. Her love for her Lord was the foundation of her life and her relationship with Jesus grounded, nurtured and sustained her. Iris Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved unconditionally and gave of herself unselfishly. She began her career employed at Cape Canaveral in the early days of the space exploration, and subsequently enjoyed a distinguished and successful career in property management and real estate sales prior to retirement. Her love for her church family at Conyers First United Methodist Church was demonstrated in her selfless devotion to the church's prayer ministry, the Stephen ministry, Friendship Sunday School Class, and her beloved Emmaus Reunion Group known as the Soul Sistahs.
She created many happy, funny, and joyful memories with her family and friends that will always be cherished and remembered. In addition to her faith, her daughter Kimberly and granddaughter Rachel were the enduring purpose and joy of her life. She loved them with all her heart.
