ATLANTA – World Gorilla Day will bring an extra cause for celebration this year: The event will also be the naming day of the youngest member of the gorilla population at Zoo Atlanta. In tribute to the significance of the day and in honor of his 2-month birthday, the western lowland gorilla infant born to Lulu on July 24 will be named on Sept. 24, and the world is invited to help choose his name.

My grandson, Sir Henley the Adorable, took me to the zoo this week. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen the zoo through the eyes of a 30-month-old boy. We saw giraffes and elephants, lions and tigers and bears (oh, my), monkeys and a funny little furry creature called a bush dog — and a myriad of colorful birds and creatures small and tame enough to pet in the children’s zoo.
