When the NFL decided not to punish players who kneeled during the pre-game national anthem, some fans reacted by refusing to attend games, buy league merchandise, or watch games on TV.

Rockdale County Public Schools are currently awaiting the approval of three additional grant requests. These grants include two grants from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement and one from Major League Baseball.

But pitchers and catchers report in less than a week and even while thousands suffer with a football hangover, in places where the weather is always warm the hope springs eternal in the hearts and minds of many that this will be the year — the year they get noticed, the year there is a breakthrough, the year that a career is advanced. Some even dream that this will be the year they make it to the show.
