Instead of lifting up a standard of players skillfully executing their duties within the bounds of the rules of the game, expectations seem to be that the most effective players are those who learn how to get away with breaking the rules – those who do it discreetly or within the limits often overlooked by the referee.

We played a great first half and in our maiden game led the defending county champions 1-0. The half was not without incident. At one point a Stone Mountain girl clearly knocked one of my players down, and I got all over the referee, just as I would have done on the football “field” or basketball “court” or baseball “diamond.”
