Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is located 35 miles north of Atlanta and will be the host of this weekends IMSA action.
The 2.54-mile 12-turn road course is recognized as one the world’s best road courses. However, if it’s your first time going out to the race event there are quite a few things to keep in mind if you go.
If you’re going, you have to remember that the event is a road course with a lot of elevation changes and a lot of area to cover to see the action. Some comfortable shoes for walking is a must.
Although it may rain on Saturday as some scattered showers are being predicted, it may be a good idea to have sun protection like sun screen and sunglasses for events to that are prior to the Saturday race.
Another thing to consider this time around would be proper clothing for the weather. As Georgia has gone for the past few weeks, the weather has been topsy-turvy and with rain a threatening aspect, it should be wise to bring a light raincoat and an umbrella.
If you’re a huge fan of a driver and want to get their autograph, having a permanent marker on hand will make sure the autograph doesn’t fade away. Even having a camera to snap amazing pictures is an added bonus for the memories you’ll make.
For those who want to feel the rumble of the motors but not necessarily the sound, some earplugs would be a good investment.
Having a charged cellphone would also be good to have on hand, especially if you find yourself lost. A track map for Road Atlanta should be accessible by a cellphone so you can find your way back to the party.
Catching some action down the track may be an issue if you don’t have a pair of binoculars handy.
