20 local athletes representing Heritage High School and Eastside High School competed over the weekend in their respective classifications in the state cross country championships.
Heritage placed 14 athletes, seven boys and seven girls. The boys were paced by Nicholas Boucher who finished 27th overall, Kyler Prioleau (55th), Nasir Varnado (151st), Ethan Baza (156th), Eqequiel Mendoza (166th), Jamari Murray (178th) and Eli Owens (191st). As a team, the boys finished in 20th.
On the girls side, Jada Banks finished in 17th place to lead all runners on the day. She was followed by Taylor Colver (58th), Abby Wilcox (86th), Antounette Neil (98th), Elizabeth Blazer (105th), Cantalisia Baehre (121st) and Emily Bradley (124th). As a team, the girls finished in 11th.
Representing Eastside was six boys runners led by Athaniel Lewis who finished in 60th. He was followed by Nolan Avery (164th), Samuel Lent (196th), Everitt Campbell (203rd), Colin Carnes (210th) and Weston Avery (221st). The boys finished in 27th overall.
