CONYERS — Heritage baseball’s celebration of their 2019 Class AAAAAA state baseball title continued Thursday evening with the Patriots being honored by the Rockdale County Board of Education.

Players and coaches each received a certificate of recognition for helping bring Heritage its first ever baseball title in the 43-year history of the program. The Patriots did so by defeating two-time defending state champion Pope in a best-of-three series at State Mutual Stadium in Rome last week.

Head coach Shane Ramsey was also presented with a $1,000 check from City Councilman Jacob Bailey, a Rockdale County alumni and owner of Beasley Drug Company in Olde Town. The check will go towards the Patriots’ booster club. An announcement was also made that a second $1,000 check will be awarded to a player later this month at the Patriots’ championship ring ceremony as a scholarship.

A date for the Patriots’ ring ceremony has not yet been determined.
