Jonquel Jones powered for 17 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks and the Connecticut Sun finished the game on a 8-2 run to down the host Atlanta Dream 65-59 in WNBA action on Sunday.
Jones recorded her fourth double-double of the season. Courtney Williams supplied 13 points and seven rebounds and Alyssa Thomas added 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Sun, who have won three straight.
Brittney Sykes and Tiffany Hayes scored 14 points apiece for the Dream, who have lost four consecutive games. Atlanta shot 32.4 percent from the field and made just three of 18 3-point attempts.
The Sun led by as much as 16 in the first quarter and emerged with a 44-32 lead at halftime. Jones racked up 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks, while Alyssa Thomas filled the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sykes led the Dream with seven points, but her team shot 38.9 percent from the field.
The Dream chipped away in the third, opening the half with an 8-2 spurt capped by a Renee Montgomery 3-pointer. Elizabeth Williams made two free throws later in the quarter to cut the Sun's advantage to three. Connecticut then scored the last five points of the quarter to carry a 56-48 lead into the final quarter.
Once again, the Dream crept back at the beginning of the quarter. A Sykes layup cut Connecticut's edge to two, 57-55. Alex Bentley's jumper with 6:07 left evened the score.
A Jasmine Thomas layup put the Sun back in front. Jones drained a three with 1:41 left to make it 63-57. Williams hit a jumper in the final minute to put the game away.
